  • Probably not working in the police force themselves as they would want to escape their work whilst watching tv 
  • Quite curious and adventurous, seek escape from reality 
  • Enjoy trying to solve the mystery and any other problems that occur 
  • British people due to the location but potential to sell it to other countries due to its insight into Britain. 
  • Probably quite active, enjoy problem solving and other brain activities. 
  • Probably fit in the achievers and aspirer groups due to the heavy focus on a professional work environment and the impact of that on the character' lifestyle 
  • Mainly white audience due to the dominantly white cast 
  • Quite a social person with strong moral values and attitudes, but also quite free-willed 
  • Keeps up with current affairs and events around the globe – aware of Black Lives Matter movement and the feminist movement 
Form and style: 
  • Features typical codes and conventions of a crime drama, such as police iconography and any other iconography linked to the genre. Also features typical characters outlined through Propp's character theory but will have a male 'damsel in distress' rather than the typical female.  
  • Narrative: follows a female detective who has just been promoted and transferred to a rural area from London. She doesn't receive any disrespect for being a woman in a higher position from her male colleagues but does sense tension from her female partner/detective and is suspicious as to why she's acting that way. The main detective then gets allocated a case of a teenager who has been discovered unconscious in a ditch. The boy is then comatose in the hospital with serious injuries and almost dies at one point. However, him eventually wakes up with little recollection of the events that occurred and tries to help solve the case with the detectives. The extract of the programme focuses on the two-female detectives talking about the case whilst walking to the location of the crime (a forensic scientist passes them the other way as well), when the main detective questions why the other is acting cold towards her. Follows Todorov's narrative theory. 
  • Representation: focuses around two female detectives and defies classic conventions by making the victim male. However, the two detectives are white whilst the victim is black (brings up the current topic of racism and hate-crimes)

Evaluation

Overall, I think the Audio-Visual aspect of the coursework could have gone a lot better. I was happy with the narrative and what I got filmed but I struggled when it didn't reach the required time limit. Therefore, I had to rush to film some more footage and edit it together to make the title sequence which I wasn't too pleased with. There's also a lot of fillers between the dialogue as the people playing the characters weren't too confident with the script. I felt a lot better about my magazine cover as I think I used a lot of the magazine conventions that I wanted to use. I think my double page spread was maybe a bit too overcrowded but I wanted to make sure I could fit in some stills of the programme in order to have more convergence between the two products. I also feel a lot better about the main photos used for the magazine as they had direct eye contact with he audience whereas the ones I previously used didn't.

Possible Location 2

I personally think this location is better than the previous one as it has more open space and a clearer entrance. It is similarly derelict, contributing to the atmosphere and tone of the scene. Also, it is also clearly in a rural environment, so stays with what I wanted for the mise-en-scene. However, it is quite close to some allotments so there may be people nearby making some noise but it shouldn't be too distracting.
