Aims and Intentions Draft

My aims and intentions for this project are to create a crime drama piece for ITV which focuses more on a female detectives point of view and defies typical stereotypes of crime drama by having a male victim. However, as the victim is black, the theme of prejudice and hate crimes would be brought up through the narrative. I also aim to oppose another stereotype by changing the typical mise-en-scene of the environment of the show based in a rural location rather than an urban one. However, the costuming would be similar to other crime dramas and the programme will also feature police iconography to highlight the main premise of the show.


I then aim to make a three page spread relating to the programme. I want the front cover to be engaging and interesting as well as having the format and mise-en-scene relating to the programme's theme and genre. I also want the double page spread to have a similar format and to have interesting content in order to capture the reader's attention. I aim to have all the pages layout to prioritise any photos of the programme which might interest the reader.

Evaluation

Overall, I think the Audio-Visual aspect of the coursework could have gone a lot better. I was happy with the narrative and what I got filmed but I struggled when it didn't reach the required time limit. Therefore, I had to rush to film some more footage and edit it together to make the title sequence which I wasn't too pleased with. There's also a lot of fillers between the dialogue as the people playing the characters weren't too confident with the script. I felt a lot better about my magazine cover as I think I used a lot of the magazine conventions that I wanted to use. I think my double page spread was maybe a bit too overcrowded but I wanted to make sure I could fit in some stills of the programme in order to have more convergence between the two products. I also feel a lot better about the main photos used for the magazine as they had direct eye contact with he audience whereas the ones I previously used didn't.

Possible Location 2

I personally think this location is better than the previous one as it has more open space and a clearer entrance. It is similarly derelict, contributing to the atmosphere and tone of the scene. Also, it is also clearly in a rural environment, so stays with what I wanted for the mise-en-scene. However, it is quite close to some allotments so there may be people nearby making some noise but it shouldn't be too distracting.
